2002
and 2003 were declared by the United Nations as
theYear of the Mountains and Year of
the Water respectively, to signify the importance
of mountain habitat and water as a precious resource.
There
is no better place to experience both, than along
the Icefield Parkway between Saskatchewan River
Crossing and the Lake Louise area, which is a very
scenic 90 minute drive from Aurum Lodge and makes
for another great day trip from our location. Again,
sights and hiking trails abound including our favourites
Mistaya Canyon, Cirque Lake, Bow Glacier Falls and
Helen Lake / Dolomite Pass. All of these are generally
less busy than the trails around Lake Louise itself.
