Notwithstanding
its name, this hike is one of the easier trails to the
alpine regions overlooking the North Saskatchewan River
and Kootenay Plains. It is particularly worthwhile in
June / July when you get close up to the many montane
and alpine wildflowers growing on the grassy ridge,
in meadows and barren rocky areas at the top. You can
backtrack the same way or, for a more demanding trip,
cut across a boulder strewn valley and descend on 2
oclock ridge.
