Batus Canyon on the flanks of Elliot Peak is a superb location for those who want to try out ice-climbing, while venturing into a different realm. Only a few meters wide at the base and a good 200 meters deep in places, the canyon is very impressive and the icewalk provides a different perspective of our mountains and rivers. Do not attempt to do this without the proper equipment and training (rock falls!). Guides from the Centre for Outdoor Education are available to safely show you this hidden treasure in winter.
