A
hiking trail leads from the lodge across Hwy 11 and around
the far side of Whitegoat Lakes, re-emerging at McKenzies
trail riding stables and the DTR motel / campground. En-route,
a side trail takes you to Cline Creek (Whitegoat Creek)
which has to be crossed to continue upstream to the view
point overlooking Whitegoat Falls, hidden away in the
forest where small springs and creeks attract wildlife
throughout the year. Whitegoat Lakes are a good place
to observe migrating waterfowl in spring.

Whitegoat
Lakes and Whitegoat Creek are named after the mountain
goats which can sometimes be seen on the slopes of Mt.
Stelfox. Lake and fenlands drain into Abraham Lake over
Little Indian Falls next to Aurum Lodge and are classified
as an environmentally significant area with a variety
of rare plant species including grasses, pinks and orchids.
