By mid May the local museum and historic coal mine in Nordegg are open again to visitors. After the turn of
last century, Nordegg was a bustling mining town with over 2,000 people
living and working here. Coal produced here was to fuel the expansion
of railways and development in Western Canada and the US. Stop for a light
lunch at the Coalminers Cafe. On your way to Nordegg, visit some of the
other sites of interest off Highway 11, such as the Bighorn Dam Information
Centre and Crescent Falls on the Bighorn River. Nordegg is a 30 minute
drive from Aurum Lodge. |
