Guest Involvement

As a guest / visitor to Aurum Lodge and Bighorn Country, you can get involved in many ways. In fact, your involvement is very important, because our own sphere of influence is limited and often confined to our property boundaries.

When you are in this area, minimise the effect of your own activities:

  • please abstain from high impact activities such as mechanised recreation and excessive driving,
  • stay on trails,
  • avoid waste and littering,
  • keep out of sensitive areas,
  • respect cultural and historic sites,
  • don’t harass / attract wildlife or pick / dig up wild flowers,
  • try not to disturb other wilderness users,
  • be extremely careful with fire.

If you care about this area, check out our Action Alerts page from time to time. Write to local and provincial politicians and call for lasting protection of Bighorn Country and a more responsible tourism industry development.

Support the work of conservation groups active in the area. Write to the media to express your views and why not get involved with conservation work closer to home, if you are not already doing so.

Talk to and involve other area users, who may not be aware of the issues. The apathy of the general public who knows better but finds it inconvenient to get involved, is one of the greatest threats to our environment!
