Snow-shoeing.

The vicinity of Aurum Lodge is ideal for cross-country skiing or snow-shoeing in winter, if there is enough snow. Sometimes you may have to drive for half an hour to find enough snow on the ground for these activities. We therefore recommend bringing your hiking boots, even in winter (which will also allow you to use snow-shoes).

The nearest downhill skiing is found in Lake Louise, a 1.5 hour drive from here. If downhill skiing is your priority, we recommend staying in the Canmore/ Banff/ Lake Louise area or Jasper. If you are interested mostly in other activities and rest, but would like to try out the slopes in Lake Louise for a day, then it can be done from here on a fair day. Ski and boot rentals are available at the downhill locations. A lift day-pass and ski/boot rental for a day will cost around C$ 100.
